Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 / Get After It.

Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 / Get After It.

4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
and he who regards the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

Over the course of the pandemic, one word that could be used to describe the reality for many Christians this last year is - “unknowns.”

The ability to plan and prepare for the year pretty much shut down when the country shut down in March.

It has been hard to plan, and even harder to see our plans we already had in place go to waste.

With the Covid-19 restrictions ramping back up in the new year, it could be very easy to slip into a defeatist mentality, or to apathetically go with the flow, since mapping out the future seems so pointless.

It’s true, there are many things we don’t know about our future. We don’t know when restrictions will be lifted. We don’t know when our job or school will get back to “normal.” We also don’t know if we will stay safe from this virus or if we will get it.

There are a lot of unknowns.

But, within the unknowns, there is one thing we DO know:

We know that God is sitting sovereignly on His throne.

We know He made everything, He understands everything, and He has not been surprised by one single thing this year.

We know He loves and cares for us deeply.

We know that He made a way for us to be made pure.

And we know that He sees and rewards us, knowing the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.

So with that truth in perspective, let’s get after it!

Let’s “sow our seed in the morning” and creatively and passionately share the good news of the Gospel with those around us.

Let’s keep striving to “go and make disciples.” And as we do, see new believers brought into deeper relationship with Christ.

Believers, we have a calling to advance God’s Kingdom. Let’s keep it going, even when we have to rely on God for each new step.

With much love,

Pastor Dave
