Colossians 3:1-3 / Intentionally Focused.
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
There is an intentionality that this scripture brings up for the believer.
Seek the things that are above.
Set your minds on things that are above.
If we have Christ, and we’ve been raised with Him, meaning – through our acceptance of His free gift of salvation we have gone from death to life – then we are now to start doing things more intentionally.
Instead of letting the things of this world dominate our thoughts or leaving ourselves open to going with the cultural flow, we are to pursue the things of God.
What we seek out and what we think about needs to change, and that won’t just happen naturally.
Yes, the Holy Spirit will begin shifting the way we think – but we should also begin putting ourselves in the position to focus on and learn from the Lord.
So, two questions to start the week:
Is there a way God is calling me to begin intentionally focusing more on Him and the things of Him?
Are there things I’ve set my mind on that are of this world and not of God? If so, how can I shift those in the right direction?
