Revelation 21:3-4/ Why God’s People Dance

Revelation 21:3-4/ Why God’s People Dance

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:3-4

Through faith in Jesus Christ God’s people can claim these promises.

You will live with God and enjoy the end of sin, death, and Satan’s rule on earth.

Until that happens, we mourn those awful things. But we do so with the great comfort of knowing Jesus has won and is coming back to establish His perfect Kingdom once and for all.

This reality has a profound effect on our mourning. In fact, this reality can change our mourning into dancing:

11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, 12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! Psalm 30:11-12

As you navigate this era that will one day be “former things” in a perfect Kingdom, remember these promises.

If you find yourself only mourning and never dancing, you may need to look to God afresh and ask Him to help you trust His promises. He is the only one who can turn our mourning into dancing. After all, only His Grace can empower us to believe His promises! And when we believe, we dance.

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin
