Luke 1:46-55/ Praying Mary's Song of Praise

Luke 1:46-55/ Praying Mary's Song of Praise

 The Christmas season is here! Let's join in Mary's song of praise this morning through prayer.

 (She gave this praise after reflecting on the reality that she was carrying the promised Messiah in her womb.)

46 And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

 Jesus, you are our Savior. "… there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Move us to magnify you in our souls, to make much of you and honor you. Help us rejoice in our spirits. Do these things to glorify yourself in us!

48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.

 Jesus, thank you for noticing our humble estate. We were lowly and poor in spirit because of our sins, yet you made yourself known to us for salvation. For he who is mighty has done great things for me! We are blessed. Help us to see that; help us to reflect on how blessed we are! Holy is your name, Jesus. Thank you!

50 And his mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.

 Thank you for your mercy, Jesus. According to your great mercy, you have caused us to be born again. Grant us respect for you. Grant us reverence for you. Empower us to fear you, Jesus!

51 He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
53 he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
55 as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

 Jesus, we praise you for your power. We praise you that you are in control. We acknowledge that everything and everyone is subject to you, no matter how mighty. Thank you for showing us your strength. Thank you for helping the weak. Thank you for not using your power against us. We were so lowly in our sins, but you lifted us up in salvation!  We praise you because you wield your power for our good. You help us and provide for us. Jesus, you are all we need. And you have proven that throughout generations!
