Psalm 86:8-13 / A Prayer of Praise

Psalm 86:8-13 / A Prayer of Praise

Praying Scripture is a powerful thing. When we pray Scripture, we are praying God-inspired words back to Him!

This morning I want to pray through a section of one of my favorite Psalms – and I invite you to pray it along with me.

8There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like yours.

Lord, you are above any other false gods this world has created. Anything that is being worshiped pales in comparison to You! Help me to keep you above all other “gods” I am tempted to worship – the god of self, the god of money, the god of career, the god of relationship. You alone are worthy!

9 All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,

and shall glorify your name.

Lord, let the nations praise you! You are the Creator of Heaven and Earth – let your creation sing praise to you!

10 For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.

Lord, help me to recognize your greatness today. Help me to see the wondrous things you do in my life and the lives of others. I want to see you in the small things and the big things. You do great things!

11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.

Lord, humbly I ask you to teach me how to live. There are situations I am faced with daily that in my humanity I don’t have the wisdom to handle on my own. I need you, Lord! Teach me how to live, help me walk in truth, make my heart fear you!

12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.

Thank you, Lord! Thank you for each and every blessing you have given me. Thank you for family, for provision, for the clothes on my back, for breath in my lungs, and most importantly, for salvation through your Son! Help me to praise your name forever, and never to cease praising you!

13 For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

God, thank you for your love! It is so undeserved and so gracious and kind. You truly have delivered me from an eternity of despair. I praise your holy name!

Have a great week!
